Insurance Coverage
The University has a standard travel insurance coverage for students. Information on the insurance policy can be found in the undergraduate and postgraduate handbooks. For details on the insurance coverage, please contact the Finance and Enterprises Office through email at feo_insurance@hku.hk or login to your HKU Portal account to find out more information about HKU’s Travel Insurance by following the path: SIS Menu -> Financial Services -> FEO Info and Hotlines -> Finance and Enterprises Office -> Insurance Information for Students.
You should note that the University only provides standard travel insurance coverage, and would not insure any personal cash or property of students under any circumstances. If students require additional or special insurance coverage, they will need to make their own personal arrangements at their own expense.
Emergency Assistance When Travel Overseas
HKU has engaged the Inter Partner Assistance (“IPA”) to provide worldwide emergency assistance to students while you are staying overseas, such as information on nearby clinic/ pharmacy, police station, translation services or travel security advice. The IPA 24/7 Assistance Center hotline is +852 2861 9266, and HKU membership number is “39379”. Students are strongly advised to create an account using HKU email address at accounts.travel-eye-axa.com/en/registration/110621 before travelling out of Hong Kong. A quick guideline could be downloaded at cedars.hku.hk/IPAaccess. IPA is NOT an insurance company to provide compensations or financial support under the insurance terms.
Subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of HKU’s Travel Insurance Policy, for request of urgent/emergency assistance which incurs a cost, students should contact AIG (the insurer) at their 24-hour Travel Guard Assistance Hotline +852 3516 8699 or +60 3 2772 5603 and quote the HKU policy number “GPP2001042”.
