Sustainability

The Sustainability Unit of Estate Office works to collaboratively develop, strengthen, and realise HKU’s institutional vision, commitments, and goals to integrate principles of sustainability into all aspects of the University’s facilities, operations, and activities.

With the implementation of the Disposable Plastic Free Campus Policy from September 2020, the sale of single-use plastic bottled beverages of one litre or less in volume were banned at all campus catering outlets, retail outlets and vending machines. Disposable plastic food service ware are not sold and distributed at campus catering outlets as well. The University will continue reducing the use of disposable single-use plastics across the campuses and events.
